What the Bible says About Creation

The list below are a group of verses from the Bible that speak about creation by divine design, in other words, creation by a sovereign God. The Almighty God is the divine architect of creation, as well as the one who sustains all creation, including you and me. Satan has sought to destroy this universal truth through many means, especially through evolution. While it’s true we do adapt to our surroundings, it is also true, we’ve were created human by divine design as recorded in the Bible. I have seen and understand that, if the scientific community can’t explain it, it can’t be true, which to me, is the ultimate form of arrogance in this world. What is a mystery to man, is no mystery to God, as the Bible tells us in Romans 1:22, when one professes to be wise, they become fools.

  1. Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

    • This verse sets the stage for the Biblical account of creation, stating that God is the originator of everything that exists, both visible and invisible.
  2. Genesis 1:3-5
“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”

    • These verses illustrate the power of God’s word in bringing forth light, separating it from darkness, and establishing the cycle of day and night, marking the first day of creation.
  3. Genesis 1:26
“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’”

    • This verse highlights the special status of humans in creation, made in the image of God and given dominion over other forms of life.
  4. Genesis 1:31
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”

    • At the conclusion of His creation work, God reviews everything He has made and declares it very good, emphasizing the perfection and goodness of His creation.
  5. Job 38:4-7
“‘Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?’”

    • These verses from Job remind us of the mystery and majesty of creation, with God questioning Job to show that human understanding of creation is limited compared to Divine wisdom.
  6. Psalm 8:3-4
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

    • This psalm reflects on the grandeur of the cosmos and marvels at God’s attention and care for humanity within such a vast creation.
  7. Psalm 19:1
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

    • Here, the psalmist poetically expresses how the heavens themselves are a testament to God’s creative power and glory.
  8. Psalm 104:24-25
“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number—living things both large and small.”

    • This psalm praises God’s wisdom in the diversity and abundance of life, acknowledging the intricate balance of the created world.
  9. Proverbs 8:22-31
“‘The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,…’”

    • In these verses, wisdom is personified and describes being present with God at the creation, emphasizing the role of divine wisdom in shaping the universe.
  10. Isaiah 40:26
“‘Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.’”

    • This verse from Isaiah invites us to look to the heavens as a demonstration of God’s power and meticulous care in creation, managing the cosmos with precision.
  11. Isaiah 42:5
“This is what God the Lord says—the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it:”

    • Isaiah speaks of God as the creator who not only formed the heavens and earth but also sustains all life, providing breath and vitality to all beings.
  12. John 1:1-3
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.”

    • These verses from the Gospel of John link Jesus, the Word, directly to creation, affirming that all things were made through Him and emphasizing the integration of creation with the revelation of God through Christ.
  13. Romans 1:20
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

    • Paul argues that the natural world reveals God’s power and divine nature, making it evident to humanity and leaving no room for doubt about His existence and character.
  14. Colossians 1:16
“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”

    • This verse emphasizes that all elements of creation, including spiritual and material realms, were created through and for Christ, highlighting His preeminence in all things.
  15. Revelation 4:11
“‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’”

    • This verse from Revelation is a doxology, a praise to God for His creative acts, acknowledging that all of creation exists because of His will.

These verses from the Bible about creation not only tells us how the world came to be but also reflect on the nature and character of God as the ultimate Creator. Through these scriptures, we gain a deeper appreciation and awe for the majesty and wisdom of God in His wonderful creation.

The Nicolaitans were a group mentioned in the book of Revelation in the New Testament, specifically in Revelation 2:6, 2:15. They were a heretical sect in the early Christian church that was condemned by Jesus in his messages to the churches of Ephesus and Pergamum. The exact beliefs and practices of the Nicolaitans are not clearly described in the Bible, but early church leaders such as Irenaeus and Clement of Alexandria suggested that they promoted sexual immorality and the consumption of food sacrificed to idols. Some scholars believe that the Nicolaitans were followers of a false teacher named Nicolas, who may have been one of the original seven deacons appointed by the apostles in Acts 6:5. However, the exact identity and teachings of the Nicolaitans remain a matter of debate among theologians and historians.
