Sermon Outline Title: The Culture of the Last Days

Text: Mark 13:10-13; Luke 21:16; 2 Timothy 3:1-9
Theme: The Bible describes a cultural and societal collapse that will mark the last days before Christ returns.
Big Idea: The growing moral decline and cultural corruption around us are clear signs of the last days and a call to get our house in order.

 


1. The Prophecy of Decline – Mark 13:10-13

  • The gospel will be preached worldwide through modern means (radio, TV, internet).

  • Christians will face persecution, betrayal, and hatred even within their own families.

  • All who endure to the end will be saved.

  • Illustration: The destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. proves God’s Word comes true.

2. The Pattern of Betrayal – Luke 21:16

  • Even parents, children, relatives, and friends will betray one another.

  • Society will collapse at the level of family and community.

  • Alliterated Point: Betrayal, Bloodshed, Brokenness.

3. The Portrait of Peril – 2 Timothy 3:1-5

  • People will be self-absorbed, proud, covetous, and unholy.

  • Disobedience, ungratefulness, and lack of natural affection will define the times.

  • Pleasure will be chosen over God, with only an empty form of godliness left.

  • Alliterated Point: Selfishness, Sinfulness, Sham Religion.

4. The Power of Deception – 2 Timothy 3:6-7

  • False teachers will creep in, leading people astray.

  • Always learning, yet never grasping the truth of Christ.

  • Alliterated Point: False Teachers, Foolish Hearts, Failed Faith.

5. The Proof of Folly – 2 Timothy 3:8-9

  • Just like Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so the world resists truth today.

  • Wickedness will spread as in the days before the flood.

  • Ultimately, the folly of the ungodly will be exposed.

  • Alliterated Point: Resistance, Rebellion, Ruin.


Conclusion / Invitation:
Scripture shows us the perilous condition of the last days—betrayal, selfishness, and rebellion against God. These are warnings and wake-up calls for us to prepare our hearts and get our spiritual house in order before the Lord returns. The time is short—are you ready?
