BUDDHISM
At the White House dinner in honor of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the United Nations, U. Thant in his speech said, “I am a disciple of Buddha. I pray to Buddha every morning and every evening. I believe that Buddhism is the answer to the world’s needs.”
BUILDINGS
The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy is going to fall. Scientists travel yearly to measure the building’s slow descent. They report that the 179-foot tower moves about one-twentieth of an inch a year and is now seventeen feet out of plumb. They further estimate that by the year 2007 the 810-year-old tower will have leaned too far and will collapse onto the nearby restaurant, where scientists now gather to discuss their findings. Quite significantly, the word “pisa” means “marshy land,” which gives some clue as to why the tower began to lean even before it was completed.
BURDENS
Lord, help me today not to add to anyone’s burdens.
—A daily prayer of a friend of Warren Wiersbe
Myriad men are born; they labor and sweat and struggle for bread.… the burden of pain, care, misery, grows heavier year by year.

BURGLARY
A minister in Ontario, whose study had been burglarized several times, with locks broken and drawers emptied, tacked a large sign to his door which read:
Hi, Friend!
1. The money isn’t here. Try the bank down the street.
2. Did you know that the Lord really loves you?
3. If I can help, please call me. Phone …
BUSYBODIES
A sad-eyed pup named Towser followed Farmer Brown into the yard and fell exhausted on the grass. “Look how worn out poor Towser is!” said a friend who had been waiting for them.
“Yes, but it isn’t the long walk that’s done him in,” said Brown. “He tired himself out by getting into all kinds of mischief. He couldn’t pass an open gate without running through it to nose around and see what was on the other side. Whenever he noticed a hen, he always took off after it and sent it scurrying. He ran toward every dog he saw and barked or tried to start a fight. He meddled with everything that moved. No wonder Towser’s all tired out.”
There are two reasons why some people can’t mind their own business. One is that they haven’t any mind, and the other is that they haven’t any business.
