Bible Text, Theme, Big Idea
-
Text: Matthew 7:13-14
-
Theme: Every traveler must choose which road to take—the way that leads to life or destruction.
-
Big Idea: Life is like a highway with two eternal directions. The narrow way leads to heaven; the broad way leads to ruin. Every person must choose.
1. The Divine Rule — “Do unto others…” (v.12)
-
The highway of life begins with how we treat others.
-
AA. If we want kindness, respect, and grace—we must give them.
-
BB. This “Golden Rule” fulfills the law and brings peace to our journey.
-
CC. Only the heart filled with Jesus’ love can live it out consistently.
-
Alliteration: Respect, Reciprocity, and Righteousness.
2. The Divine Reality — Two Kinds of People
-
Heaven sees only two classes: the saved and the lost.
-
AA. The world divides by color, culture, class, and creed, but God divides by conversion.
-
BB. The saved have entered the straight gate; the lost wander the wide way.
-
CC. Heaven will be filled with every race, tongue, and nation washed in the blood of the Lamb.
-
Alliteration: Conversion, Condition, and Citizenship.
3. The Divine Choice — Two Gates, One Way (v.13–14)
-
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6)
-
AA. The narrow way is entered through Christ alone—not works, wealth, or religion.
-
BB. The wide way requires nothing—just keep living without Jesus and you’re on it.
-
Illustration: Oprah and Pope Francis may say “all roads lead to God,” but the Bible says only one road leads to Heaven.
-
Alliteration: Gate, Grace, and Guarantee.
4. The Divine Warning — Many on the Broad Road
-
The broad way is easy, comfortable, and crowded.
-
AA. No repentance, no obedience—just go with the flow.
-
BB. But it ends in destruction. God doesn’t send people to hell—they choose it by ignoring Jesus.
-
CC. The straight and narrow seems hard, but it leads to eternal joy.
-
Alliteration: Ease, Error, and End.
5. Conclusion / Invitation
Life really is a highway—but only two directions exist. The narrow road may be tough, but it leads home. The wide road may look fun, but it ends in ruin. Draw a circle around yourself and ask: which road am I on today? Jesus still calls, “Enter in at the strait gate.” Choose the right road—choose Christ.
