Sermon Outline Title: Faith’s Victory Over Fear
Bible Text / Theme / Big Idea
Bible Text: Exodus 3:9 — “Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.”
Theme: God calls humble hearts, prepares them through life’s deserts, and empowers them for deliverance.
Big Idea: God uses ordinary people to fulfill extraordinary purposes when they walk by faith and not by sight.
1. Preparation for Purpose — God’s Call Develops Before It Deploys
a. Moses was once a prince, but God prepared him through humble service as a shepherd.
b. The wilderness removes worldliness; solitude strengthens servants.
c. We don’t need prominence to be powerful — only a willing heart.
d. Being “somebody” in the world doesn’t qualify us; brokenness does.
e. God often brings us low to lift us high.
2. Perspective and Promise — Faith Sees What Flesh Cannot
a. God said, “I will send you”; Moses said, “Who am I?” — faith trusts what God declares.
b. Walking by sight magnifies problems; walking by faith magnifies the Provider.
c. God’s Word is final — when He speaks, it stands.
d. Doing God’s work in His way ensures success in His sight.
e. Churches fail when they trade God’s way for the world’s way.
3. Personal Response — Hearing and Heeding God’s Call
a. Excuses keep us from God’s best; obedience unlocks blessing.
b. Everyone has a reason why they “can’t,” but God equips the willing.
c. He saves us for service, not stillness.
d. From football fields to pulpits, God uses the available, not the admired.
e. If God calls, He enables, strengthens, and sustains.
4. Principles for the Called — Remember These Four Truths
a. If you are called, you are capable — God equips the called.
b. If you are called, you are able — He empowers you spiritually and physically.
c. If you are called, you are guided — the Spirit provides words and direction.
d. If you are called, you are victorious — “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
Illustration / Example
Moses’ forty years as a shepherd prepared him more than all his years as a prince. God molds His messengers in quiet deserts before sending them into noisy palaces. Whether a young believer handing out tracts or an older preacher answering God’s call, willingness outweighs worldly readiness.
