Five Signs End is Near

Sermon Outline: 5 Distinct Signs the End is Near

Bible Text: Matthew 24:1-4, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, Daniel 12:4, Revelation 16:12

Theme Statement: The Bible gives us clear prophetic signs that point to the nearness of Christ’s return.

Big Idea Sentence: The world is rapidly aligning with end-time prophecy, and believers must watch, endure, and remain ready for Christ’s coming.

1. The Prophecy of the Temple Destroyed – Matthew 24:1-4

  • Jesus foretold the destruction of the temple, fulfilled in 70 A.D. when Rome left only the western wall.

  • This demonstrates the accuracy of biblical prophecy—what God says will always come to pass.

  • Jesus warns that just as signs preceded that event, signs will precede His coming.
Illustration: The Jews still weep at the western wall today, a reminder of prophecy fulfilled.

2. The Sign of Deception – Matthew 24:4

  • Deception has always existed, but today it dominates culture, media, and technology.

  • Propaganda controls minds, false doctrines flood the internet, and even false Christs appear.

  • Jesus warned, “Take heed, let no man deceive you.”
Illustration: The “mockingbird media” broadcasting the same script across dozens of networks shows modern deception in action.

3. The Sign of Rebellion – 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

  • The great falling away from the faith, not just from church attendance.

  • Many churches abandon sound doctrine in favor of political correctness and cultural acceptance.

  • Choosing the world’s approval over God’s Word is outright rebellion.
Illustration: Entire denominations have embraced unbiblical practices, proving prophecy true before our eyes.

4. The Sign of Increased Knowledge – Daniel 12:4

  • In the last days, knowledge will greatly increase—technology and travel exploding like never before.

  • From simple trucks and maps to AI, drones, and quantum computers—life has accelerated beyond comprehension.

  • Daniel prophesied people would “run to and fro” and knowledge would multiply.
Illustration: A child asking, “Daddy, what’s that knob for?” in an old truck shows how quickly technology changes.

5. The Sign of the Euphrates Drying – Revelation 16:12

  • Prophecy states the Euphrates must dry up to prepare the way for the armies of the east at Armageddon.

  • Once 1.5 miles wide, now reduced to streams in many places—fulfilling prophecy before our eyes.

  • This may be the clearest sign of all that Christ’s return is very near.
Illustration: Current satellite images show the riverbed shrinking, validating Scripture’s forecast.

Conclusion / Invitation

  • Jesus said, “Watch.” The signs intensify; the call is to endure to the end.

  • Believer: take heart—your redemption draws near.

  • Unbeliever: flee the wrath to come—repent and trust Christ today.
