Sermon Outline Title: Christians are Bought with the High Price of Christ’s Blood
Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 6:19
Theme: The Cost and Commitment of Salvation
Big Idea: Because we were bought with a price, our lives must glorify God in body and spirit.
1. We Were Bought With a Price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
a. You were redeemed by the blood of Jesus, not by silver or gold — a debt only His sacrifice could pay.
b. Salvation came at the highest cost: the life of God’s Son.
c. You are not your own — your life belongs to Him.
d. The cross reminds us that grace is free, but it was never cheap.
2. Glorify God With Your Life
a. Since we were bought, our words, actions, and attitudes should honor Christ.
b. True salvation brings transformation — a change in spirit and conduct.
c. The Holy Spirit indwells believers, making our bodies His temple.
d. Empty titles mean nothing; a “refuse technician” by any other name is still a garbage man without change of heart.
3. Draw Near and Submit to God (Hebrews 10:22)
a. Submission is the pathway to holiness — we can’t glorify God without surrender.
b. Too many offer partial obedience, giving God 60% and holding back 40%.
c. Christ didn’t give 50%; He gave His all — He expects the same in return.
d. Full surrender invites divine strength and blessing.
4. Commitment That Honors Christ (Hebrews 10:23-25)
a. Hold fast to your profession of faith — unwavering faith reflects a committed heart.
b. Faithfulness to the local church is one of the clearest marks of true commitment.
c. The gathering of the saints strengthens, encourages, and binds us in love.
d. Commitment brings consistency; consistency brings spiritual strength.
5. Consequences of Willful Sin (Hebrews 10:26-27)
a. When believers willfully turn away, they despise the sacrifice that redeemed them.
b. Jesus was crucified once and for all — there is no second sacrifice for rebellion.
c. It is better not to have known righteousness than to turn from it after receiving grace (2 Peter 2:21).
d. Repentance restores fellowship; rebellion forfeits blessing.
Illustration / Example:
A man once bought a priceless painting, paying everything he had for it. Later, someone offered him a cheap copy, but he refused — “I already have the real thing.” Likewise, Jesus paid it all to redeem you. Don’t trade the genuine for the world’s imitation of joy, peace, or purpose.
Alliterated Main Points:
Purchased – You were bought with a price.
Purposed – Your life should glorify God.
Pursuing – Draw near through submission.
Persistent – Stay faithful in commitment.
Peril – Beware the danger of willful sin.
Conclusion / Invitation:
You were bought with a price — not of gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ. Let that truth move you to full surrender. Glorify Him in your life, your walk, your worship. Repent if you’ve grown distant. Today, renew your commitment to the One who gave His all for you.
